Checkout Fixer

Monitor and fix broken WooCommerce checkouts. Catch failed payments, config errors and update regressions before customers report them.

Your store is online. Can it take money?

Uptime monitoring tells you the site loads. It does not tell you that a plugin update hid your PayPal button, that your Stripe key expired overnight, or that the store has quietly been in test mode since Tuesday. A broken checkout page still returns a perfect HTTP 200.

Checkout Fixer watches the one thing that actually pays your bills — the money path — and tells you the moment it breaks.

The problem

Your store looks fine. Uptime monitoring says the site is up. Analytics show traffic. But no orders have come in for six hours — because a plugin update hid the PayPal button on Checkout Blocks, or the Stripe key expired overnight, or the only shipping zone matching Germany has no method, or the store has been quietly in test mode since Tuesday.

None of that returns an error page. Nothing gets logged. And most customers who hit a broken checkout don’t complain — they just leave. You find out from the revenue graph, days later.

The solution

Checkout Fixer works like an automated sales-operations manager whose only job is keeping your store able to take money. It runs test purchases on a schedule like a real customer, records what real shoppers actually hit, scans your configuration for problems before anyone hits them, and checks that nothing broke after every update.

When something goes wrong, it names the cause, not the symptom: *”No payment method available at checkout. Started 14:32 UTC, 8 minutes after PayPal Payments updated to 3.2.1. 41 sessions affected.”*

Four modules, one free plugin, all local

Failure Recorder. Captures real checkout failures — validation errors, declined cards, JavaScript crashes, shipping failures, timeouts — and surfaces them on a dashboard with readable error text, grouped incidents, and estimated affected value. Works with both the classic checkout and Checkout Blocks.

Config Linter. Scans your configuration for 16 common checkout-breaking issues across payment, shipping, checkout, and operations — missing gateway credentials, test mode on a live store, no shipping method for a zone, Plain permalinks, missing cURL. Runs on install, before any customer hits the problem.

Synthetic Monitor. Drives a server-side test checkout on a schedule. Canary mode validates the checkout path without creating orders; full mode completes a test purchase through an internal gateway (never shown to real customers) and cleans up after itself.

Release Guard. Snapshots your store’s known-good state before an update, captures a post-update snapshot, and diffs them. If an update regressed checkout, you see exactly what changed and what broke.

Why every store should install this

A store doing $5,000/day loses about $208 for every hour checkout is down. Finding out a day late instead of minutes late is the expensive part — and this plugin is free.

Uptime monitoring cannot see any of this. It checks that a page loads. A checkout page loads beautifully while offering zero payment methods.

Every plugin update is an unsupervised change to production. A typical store runs 30–60 plugins. Release Guard turns update night from a gamble into a checked deployment.

Your complaint volume is not your failure volume. Most shoppers who hit a broken checkout leave silently, so your intuition about how often this happens is wrong — and wrong in the expensive direction.

It works the minute you activate it. No account, no API key, no waiting for traffic data. The Config Linter usually returns a real finding within a minute of activation.

Deterministic evidence, not guesswork

All four modules share one principle: evidence first. The failure began 8 minutes after plugin X updated; 96% of failures use Blocks; the canary’s add_item step returned HTTP 500. No AI guessing — just what you need to fix it.

Privacy-safe by design. PII patterns (card numbers, CVVs, emails, phone numbers) are scrubbed before storage. Dimension keys like name and address are dropped entirely. See the FAQ.

Local by default. No SaaS, no telemetry, no phone-home. Your data stays in your own WordPress database. Alerts go only to destinations you set up, and the optional AI assist is off until you turn it on with your own key.

You decide how much it may do. A single screen sets, for each kind of problem, whether Checkout Fixer just records it, tells you, prepares a fix for your approval, or fixes it itself. Nothing is set to change your store when you install it.

Non-blocking. Failure beacons are sent asynchronously; checks run on a schedule via Action Scheduler. Nothing is added to the critical path a real customer waits on.

Standard WP admin UX. Every dashboard page uses the WP admin table/list shape you already know — pagination, search, filtering.

One-click kill switch. Pause failure capture instantly from Settings without deactivating the plugin.
